Jukka Jalonen-Lion King

Jukka Jalonen is a three-time world champion in ice hockey and the head coach of the Finnish ice hockey national team, also known as “Leijonat”. Jalonen is only the second coach who has won a world championship in minors (2016) as well as men’s tournament (2011 & 2019).

In the start of his career Jalonen has said himself to have been “a normal coach”, but found his way quickly to the elite of coaches by having great success with the Finnish top league team HPK winning five medals in only six years and crowning his stay with the first championship of the franchise in 2006. Jalonen has also coached the Russian KHL team SKA (St. Petersburg) and the Finnish power-house Jokerit.

Jalonen is known to be a leader who truly understands the game of ice hockey but also the aspects that make a great team: setting clear goals, tuning team spirit and working together. Jalonen talks often about the “ladders of success” in which he defines the foundations on which he has built the success of his teams. Jalonen is a true student of the game and is a living legend in the hearts and minds of Finnish ice hockey fans.

Hannaleena Ronkainen

Hannaleena Ronkainen is the first sports psychologist in the history of the Finnish Olympic team and works as a sport psychologist in the High-Performance center of the Finnish Olympic committee. She has an extensive background in the field of psychology and has worked with people in a variety of situations.

The upcoming Tokio Olympics will be the fourth Olympic games in which Ronkainen works towards helping the Finnish team reach its potential. On top of the daily work the Olympic setting brings a new kind of challenge to her work which she will tell more about in her presentation.

Working with Finland’s top athletes in pressured situations is not an easy task, but the job contains much more than just talking to athletes: she also works with the coaching staff to optimize the coaching process as well as a spokesperson for the field of sport psychology in Finland.

Ronkainen herself does not have a background in competitive sports but she has been “on the sidelines” watching closely as her husband Mikko Ronkainen made his journey all the way to the Olympic silver in mogul skiing in Torino 2006.

Even though Ronkainen is well known for her work in the Olympic games, most of the work is done in the weeks, months and years leading up to the Olympics. She emphasizes the fact that neither psychology nor sport psychology is about "tricks", but rather something else. In her talk "The mind ready for success", Ronkainen reveals her methodology for being ready when the time comes.

Gasellit

Thanks to its pioneering blend of melodic and modern rhythm music and outspoken underground rap, Gasellit has conquered a variety of platforms from mainstream radio stations to alternative clubs. The band has seen a meteoric rise cementing it as one of the leading names in Finnish rap, as demonstrated by 90 million plays on Spotify and the Band of the Year award at the Emma Gala in 2019.

This year, the group preparing its sixth album has released the singles ‘Kutsu’ and ‘Kuvittele meidät siellä’.

The band’s previous full release ‘Jano’ came out in October 2018. The album’s singles ‘Riks Raks Poks’ (ft. Elias Gould) and ‘Mitä Mä Malagas?’ (ft. JVG), which topped the charts for several weeks, climbed to Spotify’s Top 10 list, with the latter even holding the number one spot for a good while. Gasellit’s repertoire also includes numerous other superhits, such as ‘Imus’, ‘Liimaa’ and ‘Muistanks mä väärin’.

Gasellit’s live shows are like the Finnish summer at its best: unpredictable and bipolar – on the one hand sensitive, and on the other completely off the wall. The band has garnered praise for the hundreds of high-energy shows it has played throughout Finland. The members take pride in bringing the party with them wherever they go, which is exactly what they have done everywhere from private events to the largest festivals in Finland, such as Ruisrock and Provinssi.
