Meet the Speakers
Kirsi Niinimäki is a Professor of Design and Fashion Research at Aalto University. She explores sustainability from multiple angles, generating valuable new insights in sustainable fashion. Her research group, Fashion/Textile Futures at Aalto University, is involved in key research projects that integrate the closed loop, bio-economy and circular economy approaches into fashion and textiles, expanding our understanding of strategic sustainable design.
Michael Hummel has 15 years of experience in cellulose fiber spinning and is one of the inventors of the Ioncell® process. His research focuses on textile recycling, particularly the chemical recycling of cotton and cellulose-based fibers.
