Ekonomit and TEK are partnering to offer an online Finnish language course tailored for highly educated professionals eager to level up their confidence and competence in working in Finnish.

• Express opinions, negotiating, and agreeing or disagreeing tactfully and contextually.
• Master common workplace phrases.
• Respond to critical feedback, opr express unpleasant things with grace and professionalism.
• How to advocate for yourself at work

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:

• Understand the main points of work-related discussions.
• Deal with most situations you’ll encounter at the workplace.
• Craft clear, concise texts on familiar topics.
• Share your ideas confidently and contribute to workplace plans.

Course Details
This is an intensive course designed to deliver results. Sessions are held twice a week (1,5 hours each, with a short break) between 3rd of March to 18th of June 2025.

• When: Mondays and Wednesdays, 18:00–19:30, with Wednesdays dedicated to practice – you are encouraged to bring work and prepare emails or presentations there. 

Who can join?
To ensure the course is effective and enjoyable for everyone, participants must have an initial Finnish proficiency level of A2.3–B1.1. Your level will be assessed as part of the registration process, and those with fitting level will be invited to participate in the course. 

This course is exclusively for Suomen Ekonomit full members (TEK members can pre register via TEK)

How to Apply:

1. Submit a writing sample during registration (follow the instructions linked here):
   To evaluate your level, you are required to send upon registration a short writing sample. Upload your writing sample as a pdf-file in the registration form. 
   
   
2. Attend a one-on-one chat in Finnish to discuss your goals and current proficiency:
   You will be contacted by email to organize a 1-on-1 informal conversation to discuss your goals and objectives for the course, your learning journey so far and who you are. This conversation will be held in Finnish to assess your level as well as gather necessary information to tailor the course to the participants.

Fee:

• Participation fee is 100€ , that will be charged later to accepted participants, once the language level has been assessed.
• We reserve the right to charge a 20€/week no-show fee to participants who do not show up for at least 1 class per week past the third time and onward. 

Important Notes:

• This is a pre-registration and does not guarantee a spot in the course. Only participants meeting the required language level will be invited to join.
• Spaces are limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
• You’ll be notified of your status via email by February 24th, 2025.
